ROWAN VAN DER STERREN [PERFORMANCE] [NL]
Everyone knows the iconic Turbine van, packed to the roof with CRT TVs, artists, and stacks of CDs.
When it broke down during VOL.7, the Turbine crew split into two camps:
one side wanted to smash it to pieces, while the other swore it should stay untouched.
Instead of scrapping the van, we turned that frustration into something better:
a full-on car smash installation where you can unleash your rage.
Meanwhile, the Turbine van itself will live on as a massive graffiti canvas, a symbol of creation over destruction.
Enter Rowan van der Sterren , a punk futurist hieroglyphic writer. With the raw rhythm of Rotterdam as his backdrop, he delivers an explosive mix of angular lines, graffiti tangles, and a wall shaking beat. Inspired by the pulsing tempo of electro and the fleeting letters flashing past on the tracks, he fuses form and color into a new visual language.
His work balances between chaos and control, revealing its full depth only if you dare to embrace the chaos. Rowan’s art is a visual interruption, designed to seize your attention.
Catch him at The Fields, where he will turn the Turbine van into a rolling work of art.
