OLYVE DEWI [NL]

VEIL OF THE VESSEL

Olyve Dewi is a performance artist who positions the body as a ritualistic instrument. The performance is assisted by a handmade costume with a ritualistic mask. This dance improvisation serves as an embodied offering.

Within this ceremonial context, holding space for a conscious quietude, to allow us to process our collective grief. As a memoir for the Indo Silence (Indisch Zwijgen).

At the heart of her art practice lays the movement as her medicine. Through this practice, researching human form and the formless. One that is rooted in her multi-cultural background.

Without the memory of the post-war wound having crossed our gazes, the first generations took their stories to their graves. Now that the silence has merged with the land, we can only communicate through the conduit of ancestral dialogue. Those who came before us remind us of the responsibility we carry. Towards the ones with whom we will share the soil after.
